About Us
We are a Charity based in North East Lincolnshire. Since 2010. We have worked with schools, colleges, health and social care providers, businesses and community organisations delivering creative, sporting and adventurous activities to:
- engage people of all ages,
- enrich people’s lives
- inspire them to become more active in their community
Our menu of sporting, adventurous and creative activities is delivered in a structured and supportive, collaborative environment to help people of all ages develop physical, social and emotional skills and to have fun!
We use a wide range of activities to build self-esteem and confidence and to help people build positive patterns of behaviour that will help them stay healthier for longer.
Our customers can choose from a fully flexible range of activities, including:
Angling, Archery, Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting, Golf, Laser Biathlon Shooting, Dance, Zumba, Yoga, Creative Media, Disc Sports, Survival Skills, Bush craft, Wildlife Walks, Adventurous Activities, Environmental Activities and many more!
Positive Activities sessions are delivered by qualified coaches and instructors who are insured, DBS checked and hold first aid certification.
We are an Edexcel accredited centre offering Entry 3 and Level 1 courses in Media, Work skills & Sports and Fitness.
Our activities and programmes aim to help people to be happier – to connect, to manage stress, to build confidence and self-esteem, to develop habits for a healthy lifestyle and to enjoy themselves.
We know that sport is good for people and society: it improves physical and mental wellbeing, individual development, social and community development and employment, training and education. Since 2010 we have worked with over 9,000 members of the community, representing over 250,000 hours of contact. We work with 25% of local schools and over 10 youth & family support agencies.
In our work with young people we know 76% of our participants moved up 3 levels of our engagement and progression matrix, 20% moved up 4 levels with 4% progressing into volunteering. Many of the people who volunteer with us move on to paid work.
We know that we change lives – the positive impact of our work reduces long term costs to society by improving
- Physical Health: – for adults, doing 30 minutes of at least moderate intensity physical activity on at least 5 days a week helps to prevent and manage over 20 chronic conditions, including coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancer, obesity, mental health problems and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Psychological health and wellbeing: – Participation in physical activity and sport has been shown to be effective for reducing the risk of: depression, emotional disturbance, psychological distress and Alzheimer’s. Evidence also shows that physical activity can enhance psychological well-being, by improving self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and by reducing levels of anxiety and fatigue.
