Last year, I completed the Prince’s Trust Team Programme where my team working skills and confidence improved a lot and I was able to take part in several different activities with my team including rock climbing, abseiling and caving.
I have also previously volunteered for Foresight in Grimsby which is a local charity that provides classes such as badminton, healthy eating and money management for adults with disabilities, where I supported them with various tasks.
I started volunteering at GHoPA as an administration assistant through the Jobcentre plus Community Work Placement scheme in September 2014. I am thoroughly enjoying my time as a GHoPA volunteer as I get to work for a local not for profit social enterprise and I am treated as one of the team.
I was very nervous when I first started the placement as I didn’t know anyone there and I am naturally anxious around new people. After a few weeks I got to know everyone and I was a lot more at ease.
I have learnt a lot more about administration and online marketing during my time here. I learnt and became confident with the online survey creator SurveyMe and the online newsletter creator Mailchimp during my first week of volunteering at GHoPA. During my time at GHoPA, I have also had the opportunity to learn Archery and to support a mentor with tasks at a team building event.
