Lifestyle Project

The GHoPA Lifestyle Angels from Cleethorpes Academy took 7 weeks in total out of their summer holidays.
The team spent hours of their summer holidays working to transform a disused garden and sport changing facilities into an area that can be enjoyed by the young people who live at the YMCA hostel in Peaks Lane.

If young people giving up their summer holidays wasn’t special enough; that they would give up their time to support their peers is truly commendable. The young people who live in Peaks Lane do so for a number of reasons, very often because they have not had the start in life that many young people enjoy.
Some of the residents at Peaks Lane where inspired by the lifestyle team and have joined them in their work, allowing stories to be shared and understanding gained as to the situation that young people in the YMCA find themselves.

This project has not only transformed a physical environment but it has also transformed young people’s opinions, outlook on life and prospects for the future, both those who live in the hostel and those that do not.
